Weston McKennie is now in England as the Juventus midfielder closes in on a move to Leeds United.

That’s according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed the initial loan fee the Elland Road club are paying to Juventus for the American’s services during the second half of this season.

With Leeds looking to strengthen their midfield in the final stages of the January transfer window, McKennie has seemingly emerged as a standout target for the club.

After much speculation, it looks as though they are about to get their man, with reports on Saturday revealing that a loan to buy deal for the 24-year-old is at the final stage before completion.

Now it seems as though the midfielder is edging ever closer to securing a move that will see him become a Leeds player for the rest of the season at the very least.

According to Romano’s latest update on Sunday morning, McKennie has now arrived in the country with his agents to put pen to paper on a contract with Leeds, once he has completed his medical.

It is thought that Leeds will pay Juventus €1.5million to take the midfielder on loan for the remainder of the season.

Should the deal become permanent, Leeds will pay a further €33million plus add-ons for the midfielder, meaning the move could apparently be worth up to €40million.

This does feel like a promising update from a Leeds United persuasion.

Having added to their defence and attack already this month, midfield did look to be the next priority for the Elland Road club in the final days of the window.

That is something they are now going to get done with the signing of McKennie, and the fact this now looks all but done will be a relief, given the rumours of a hijack attempt by Arsenal that had surfaced.

With that in mind, you feel Leeds will be keen to get this completed and confirmed as soon as possible, so that attention can fully turn to matters on the pitch and the battle to avoid relegation.
