In unexpected news, Mateusz Klich has signed a new long term contract at Elland Road. The Polish midfielder has agreed to a deal that will keep him at Elland Road for four and a half years.

The centre midfielder originally found himself in Marcelo Bielsa’s ‘maybe’ pile when the Argentine arrived at Elland Road. He was given the opportunity to start on the first day of last season, however, and has been in the side for league games ever since.

Noted for his off the ball movement and precise link up play, Klich finished last season with an impressive record of 10 goals in 50 games.

He became a rather surprise package of last season, having spent his first season at Leeds under Thomas Christiansen very much on the fringes of first-team activity, playing few games and eventually being loaned out to FC Utrecht.

Brought to the club in Victor Orta’s spending spree of Summer 2017, it’s not thought he would have been on that high wages to begin with. This contract should bring him closer to the level that his first-team involvement deserves.
