Leeds United are in search of a new manager with Andoni Iraola of Rayo Vallecano reported to be the leading candidate.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, but also Sky Sports, who have outlined Leeds’ managerial search has placed Iraola as the priority to replace Jesse Marsch.
The Whites sacked Marsch earlier in the week with their Premier League status under threat once more this season. He left the side sitting in 17th place and just three points off the bottom of the table with two crucial games at Manchester United looming this week.

Reports in Spain have emerged that a move for Iraola is now unlikely, with Rayo Vallecano said to be at peace with the situation as they grow more confident of keeping their manager.
That’s according to Spanish journalist Maite Martin, she said: “In Rayo there is tranquillity with the theme of Iraola. They trust that the coach will continue, despite the interest of Leeds.”
However, Leeds All Over sources have confirmed to us that there is growing confidence at Elland Road that Iraola will accept the role as head coach. The expectation is that Leeds will soon seal a deal for the Spaniard to take the hotseat from Marsch.

Leeds need to get this appointment right and Iraola would be a magnificent successor to Marsch.
Leeds are in a precarious position in the league table and desperately need points to turn things around. They really ought to have a replacement lined up as soon as possible. Iraola would be a huge upgrade on the American if they can get it done.
Out of possession Leeds would remain largely the same in terms of their off-ball intensity and pressing; but the control on the ball would be much improved, with lots of wing play and repeatable automations, whilst also playing largely in transition.
This would suit the current squad, given Leeds possess a wealth of fast and tricky wide forwards currently.
