San Lorenzon are unaware of any interest in Adolfo Gaich from Leeds United, reports from Argentina have revealed.
It was recently claimed that Leeds had joined their Championship promotion rivals West Brom in the race to sign the striker, as both sides look to strengthen their attacking options when the transfer window reopens.
It seems however, as though a move to Elland Road at least, is unlikely to happen for Gaich in the near future, with reports from Argentine outlet Ole claiming that San Lorenzo are unaware of any interest in their player from the Whites.
Indeed, Gaich’s agent has recently claimed that while the financial impact of football’s current suspension means San Lorenzo may have to sell Gaich for less than his £11.6million release clause, the 21-year-old is targeting a move to Italy in the upcoming window.
A graduate of San Lorenzo’s academy, Gaich has made 28 appearances and scored eight goals in all competitions for the club, with those performances helping earn him his Argentina debut in a 4-0 friendly win over Mexico back in September.
Given the clear potential that Gaich possesses based on that record, it is somewhat disappointing to see that it looks unlikely that he will be making a move to Elland Road any time soon.
Indeed, as a young player with that sort of ability, you imagine Gaich would have fit in well at Elland Road, not least under the management of fellow Argentine Marcelo Bielsa, meaning this is a name you feels Leeds would do well to keep that name on record, if they are not to make a move for Gaich in the coming window.
