Leeds United are interested in signing Sassuolo midfielder Hamed Traore this summer.

That’s according to the Serie A side’s CEO Giovanni Carnevali, who says his club have already received an enquiry for the 22-year-old from the Elland Road outfit.

Traore enjoyed an impressive campaign for Sassuolo last season, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in 31 league games, something that has seemingly caught the attention of Leeds.

It was reported last month that the Premier League club, along with Italian champions AC Milan, are keen on a deal for the 22-year-old.

Now it seems as though Leeds have already made a move as they look to secure the services of Traore, although it may not be easy for them to do a deal.

Speaking about Leeds’ reported interest in signing Traore, Carnaveli told Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness: “We have received a request [from Leeds], but I repeat, we will not sell all of them.”

As things stand, there are two years remaining on Traore’s contract with Sassuolo, securing his future in Italy until the end of the 2023/24 season.

This does look as though it is one that could be well worth keeping an eye on.

If Leeds have indeed made an approach for Traore, then you imagine he is a player they are keen on, and his versatility in midfield could make him a useful addition for the club.

However, Traore’s contract situation does mean that Sassuolo are in a decent position to negotiate any offers that come in for the midfielder.

As a result, Leeds may be facing a battle if they are to complete this signing, and it will be interesting to see one way or another whether this proves to be one worth pursuing with his performances next season, whoever they may be for.
