Leeds United have been linked with a move for FC Midtjylland midfielder Jens Cajuste, but the latest update pours cold water on the move.
Leeds are heading into the 2021/22 season with a lot of ambition after a great first season back in the top flight and could go even better this term.
Two senior signings have been made to solidify the left-sided partnership of Jack Harrison and new face Junior Firpo, but the club could do with a new central midfielder too.
The latest on the midfield front in the first-team is somewhat quiet as links emerge with little inkling of a formal approach from Victor Orta or the club.
However, reports from Swedish outlet Expressen linked the club with a move for Swedish international Jens Cajuste accoridng, currently playing for FC Midtjylland in Denmark.
The towering midfielder travelled with his country for Euro 2020 whilst only managing one brief appearance, but at 21-years-old, he presents a prospect for the future.
LUFCFanZone have now contradicted this transfer link, with their claims that Leeds are not interested in the player:
It’s tough to nail down one specific target right now, because we may have expressed some interest in Cajuste without pursuing it too much.
He does look as though he’ll be on the move this summer if interest and his performances are anything to go by.
However, this looks like a pretty strong statement to make, even if it’s just a means of getting Leeds to turn around and push with a bigger fee.
The links to midfielders are promising thogh because we know we’re going to be pursuing one in the coming weeks.
