Overall competitive record between Charlton and Leeds.

Leeds’ biggest win was back in the 2003/2004 season where they went to The Valley and scored 6 – oh how I’d like that to happen tomorrow.. A Mark Viduka hat-trick was the highlight of the day with Harry Kewell (2) and Ian Harte getting United’s other goals. Meanwhile Charlton’s biggest victory also came at their home ground, scoring 5 without reply back in the 1946/1947 season.

Most older fans will remember a vital game back in the ’86/87 season, with Leeds in division 2, and Charlton in division 1 (finishing third bottom, thus going into a play-off). After two legs the sides could not be separated. A third leg was played in a neutral stadium – St. Andrews, Birmingham – again the sides couldn’t be separated during 90 minutes. Extra time was played, John Sheridan put Leeds in front after 99 minutes but Peter Shirtliff broke the Whites’ hearts, scoring in the 113th and 117th minute.

Charlton were in Division 1 in 86/87 but were involved in the Play-offs because they finished 3rd bottom. Leeds were in Division 2.
