Leeds had the whole international break to change the way they play to stop the predictability of recent performances. Sadly, they didn’t do that. We’ve lost three games in a row with little sign of life. It’s time for a change in formation and this is the team I’d go forward with for away games:
GK – Andy Lonergan – He looked far more composed than Felix has done and as long as he doesn’t make any silly mistakes, he should keep the role for some time.
Into the defence…
Jackson……. no
Philips…………no
Baradi ……..LB.
Siaz…………..MF
Totally agree, a change in formation could be a solution, and, the lack of a natural left footed player at LB is significant, but changes in personnel because of performance must be considered. IMO, we should look to play a 3-5-2 formation, especially away from home, and if TC wants to continue to play out from the back …
Lonergan
[Pennington or Shaughnessy] – Jansson (c) – Ayling
Dallas [RWB] – [Klick or Anita] – Vieira – O’Kane – Alioski [LWB]
Sáiz – [Cibicki or Lasogga]
Subs;- Wiedwald-Berardi-[Pennington or Shaughnessy]-Phillips-[Anita or Klich]-Roofe-Gomes.
All the above players are composed with the ball at their feet, whereas Liam Cooper is easily put under pressure by high pressing forwards because of his one footedness, gives the ball away far too much, especially with his long cross field ball that Steven Gerrard wouldn’t have tried as much as LC … Alioski and Dallas track back well, have the pace and Alioski has admitted that he’s played at LB before. Sáiz MUST be included for his creativity, and at some point, Cibicki must be given the chance with his alleged pace. Pie in the sky? Who knows, it’s only an opinion.
This bloke has included Borthwick-Jackson and dropped Saiz 🙂
Not sure how you can drop Saiz, Hernandez yes. I think most agree Viera will stiffen up the midfield. I’d also like to see more of the Swedish guy we signed up front and give Sacko an extended run on the wings.
Leeds do have options, it’s just a case of TC using them.
I feel sorry for Roofe, he’s not a winger, but seems to consistently play there. Why not play him up front with Lassoga. If Leeds aren’t happy to match up Bristol 4-4-2 (and that is apparently the way they always play), why not go 3-5-2 with Pontus, Coops and Ayling at the back?
I would play 4-3-2-1
Can play
lonaghan
Ayling
Janson
Pennington
Jackson
Philips
Vieira
O’kane
Hernandez (alioski)
Said (dallas)
Lasogga
Whatever the formation we need to play Alioski AND Saiz. They play well off each other and Saiz was not so good last saturday when he wasn’t playing.
We will do well to draw and hopefully a win if the defense can build on the more stability that Lonergan can bring again at the back.
