Robin Koch has updated Leeds United fans on his road to recovery, as he aims to return from a knee injury sustained in December.

We have not been blessed with the best luck when it’s come to injuries this season.

Our centre-back partnership is yet to be nailed down in front of Illan Meslier with all three senior men being out at different times this season.

There have only been two games this season where all three of Liam Cooper, Diego Llorente, and Robin Koch were in the match day squad: Manchester City at home, and Chelsea away.

The latter was only the case for nine minutes as Koch aggravated a lingering knee issue plaguing him since the start of the season.

He was subsequently ruled out until February as he had surgery to repair torn meniscus in his knee.

On Wednesday evening, the centre-back took to social media to post an update of him working on recovering from the injury:

It’s a welcome update to go with Diego Llorente’s appearance for the under-23s on Monday.

The Leeds fans are feeling positive as we look to turn a corner and welcome a new defensive partnership…

It’ll be massive once we’ve got a fully fit defence to pick from.

We looked very solid when he was at the back with Cooper at the back and Phillips in front.

It’s also a mouthwatering proposition to think of both Llorente and Koch in the same lineup.

Two current Spain and Germany intentionals playing at the back for us isn’t something I expected after promotion.

My only reservation is the fact that both are right-footed and Cooper’s left foot gives us a lot of balance.

Either way, beggars can’t be choosers and the sooner Koch and Llorente are back, the better.
