With the season just a couple of weeks away Leeds are still a long way from looking like a team capable of competing for a play-off spot.
The six new signings are all positive additions to the squad but the sale of Lewis Cook has turned a lot of the optimism to pessimism. The current squad is very thin and further new additions are certainly needed if Leeds are to achieve a play-off finish this year in my opinion. With the club offering at least a 25% refund to season ticket holders if the club do not finish in the top six, you would hope that play-off’s are the goal.
Leeds are currently 40/1 to win the Championship with SkyBet, the same odds as Fulham, Ipswich Wigan and Huddersfield. To gain promotion, Leeds are priced at 12/1 with the same company, that’s the sixteenth favourite which just shows how far the media and the bookmakers think we are from challenging. To finish in the top six Leeds are priced at 9/2 – it might be worth putting the potential season ticket refund money on that!
In terms of relegation, Leeds are priced at just 5/1 – fifth favourites. That is worrying if you are one of those people who take into account what the bookmakers think. If you want to go deeper into the outright section Chris Wood is 40/1 to take the golden boot. Kemar Roofe is just behind him at 50/1, the same price as fellow new signing Marcus Antonsson.
