Leeds United Vice Chairman Paraag Marathe has shared his reaction to Tyler Adams being named the USMNT captain for the World Cup.
Group B of the World Cup gets underway today with England taking on Iran in the afternoon, before the USA and Wales face each other in the evening.
Two Leeds stars will be hopeful of getting the USMNT off to the perfect start, with Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams expected to feature heavily this tournament.

Confirmation came on Sunday that Adams was named the captain of Gregg Berhalter’s side for this tournament – a huge accolade for the midfielder at the age of 23:
It’s a proud moment not only for Adams, but for his club, who have seen him take to the Premier League incredibly since his £20million move from RB Leipzig.
That reaction includes Vice President Paraag Marathe, who shared this message (via LeedsLive):
“On behalf of all the Board of Directors at Leeds United, but especially those of us over in the US, we want to congratulate Tyler Adams on being named Captain of the USMNT for the 2022 World Cup.
“Serving as captain of any national team at any time and in any place, is a magnificent achievement and great privilege, but to wear the armband on the biggest stage is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
“Tyler’s leadership and presence at Leeds since arriving here this summer have proven how much of a positive influence he is on and off the field for the team, and I have no doubt he will live up to expectations and do us proud throughout this World Cup.
“Good luck Tyler, we can’t wait to see what you do on the world stage.”
Is Adams a future Leeds captain?
Yes

No

Everyone is going to be watching him hoping he shows exactly what he is capable of.
It’s an honour for him to be named captain, and it’s something he definitely deserves despite being just 23.
His leadership qualities are coming through in the Leeds side despite being here just a few months, and this shows it’s not just here where it’s noticed.
