Leeds United look to be the most likely destination for Chelsea centre back Fikayo Tomori as he looks for more regular game time during the January transfer window.

That’s according to a report from the BBC, who have been assessing some of the players in English top-flight who could be on the move this summer, with Leeds’ interest in Tomori one potential deal that appears to have attracted some attention.

With Liam Cooper, Robin Koch and Diego Llorente all currently out injured, it seems as though the signing of a new centre back is a key piece of business for Leeds in this January transfer window.

One potential option to fill that role could be Tomori, and it was recently reported that the Whites could be interested in taking the 22-year-old defender on loan from Chelsea for the second half of this season.

It now seems as though there is something of an expectation that a move to Elland Road could well happen for the one-time England international, with this latest update suggesting that Leeds is the most likely club for Tomori to join this month, as Marcelo Bielsa’s side look for the cover they need at the heart of their defence.

After what was a promising campaign for Tomori last season, this one has been more difficult for the young centre back.

So far this season, Tomori has made just three appearances across all competitions for Frank Lampard’s side, which is unlikely to be doing his progress as a player any favours.

This update does look to be rather encouraging from a Leeds United perspective.

Given the fitness problems they currently have in that position, it does seem vital that they add cover there over the next few weeks.

Tomori has previously shown with Chelsea that he is more than capable of competing at this level, and will no doubt be desperate that that is still the case despite a challenging from last few months for him.

That is something that could therefore benefit Leeds were they to secure a temporary deal for the 22-year-old, and the profile of this signing would be another sign of just how far the Elland Road club have come over the past few seasons.
