Leeds United star Raphinha is catching the eye in the Premier League, and has been rewarded for his efforts in the last month.

The Brazilian joined from Rennes and has hit the ground running in West Yorkshire.

He has raised the bar substantially for what Marcelo Bielsa can get out of his Leeds side in the top flight, and looks like he’s only going to get better.

Five goals and five assists in 21 games doesn’t quite paint the picture of one of the most electric wingers who had very rarely struggled to get the better of his marker.

Two goals and one assist have come in the month of February for Raphinha, with stylish finishes against Everton and Southampton coupled with a set-piece assist at Arsenal.

It’s enough for the 24-year-old to be nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award:

Raphinha is nominated among eight other candidates including Jesse Lingard, Bruno Fernandes and Harvey Barnes.

The fan-voted award will see Leeds fans hoping to scoop the accolade for the club’s prize asset, and the reaction was as you would expect…

It’s a tough category to win a prize for, considering both Lingard and Fernandes are in the running.

Fan votes are more often than not a popularity contest, as we won every vote in the Championship by a landslide.

The Manchester United connection might sway this in the other two’s favour.

That being said, it’s still a huge achievement for Raphinha and a sign of how well he’s doing that he’s being noticed for it.
