Leeds headed to Ewood Park in expectant mood, backed by an impressive traveling army of 7,000 fans, breaking news of major investment and a run of games which has seen Leeds break into the top 6,we were all sat frustrated and disappointed at the end of a long, poor 90 minutes.

With Leeds sitting 6th in the table that itself was an example of what hard work can get you, we all know that this Leeds team isn’t amongst the best 6 sides in the league but working hard and beating the teams you should be beating can certainly give you half a chance, probably a case that we could have at least taken a point yesterday, well, right up until the game kicked off anyway.

The first half hour saw Leeds match the hosts but never really threatened Blackburn until a usual long punt from Tom Lees was flicked on by Luke Varney and Ross McCormack gifted a chance which was easier for Danny Pugh to score, so of course he missed. Should have been 1-0 up and without a doubt would have panned out to be a different game had we scored this.

Blackburn started to knock the ball around whilst Leeds chased the ball around and inevitably it was Blackburn who scored in stoppage time of the first half when Tommy Spur crashed the ball home. Notably it could have been much worse at half time if it wasn’t for a couple of excellent Paddy Kenny saves.

The second half began and Leeds saw a lot more of the ball in the second half but couldn’t really create anything worthwhile and a midfield lacking in quality becomes more evident when when we play a 5-3-2. Sam Byram and Matt Smith were introduced to try and get Leeds back in the game but as Leeds had few options the return of the “hit the big man” became our game and Smith did what he could and arguably should have had a penalty. It was the least we deserved however. The closest Leeds came was from Rudy Austin who hit the side net from 8 yards out. Leeds were left frustrated and ruing that missed Danny Pugh opportunity in the first half.
We now move into a double header at Elland Road against Wigan and Watford. Hopefully we can get two big gates and pick up 6 points to put us back on track.

Looks like paddys been on form this season, plenty of crucial saves in tough games, good credit to him for that.
As for the rest of the team, god knows what happens, hopefully BMcD has a talk and sorts heads out.

Paddy Kenney the only Leeds player to emerge with any credit. Absolutely agree about the 5-3-2 it’s not a system suited to Peltier or Pugh’s talents either. Low point for me was McCormack racing upfield to expertly trap a ball dropping from the skies with snow on it, only to look round and find not another Leeds shirt within 50 yards. Best part of the trip was the massive Leeds support MOT
