Angus Kinnear has confirmed that Leeds United are hoping for ‘one more bit of good news’ ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline.
Leeds have worked tirelessly so far this summer to strengthen Marcelo Bielsa’s side and there’s still work to be done tonight.
That’s the latest according to Kinnear, who has been speaking live on Sky Sports.
Kinnear has been live on Sky discussing the deal to bring Rennes winger Raphinha to Elland Road.
Whilst the Managing Director at Elland Road refused to get too carried away, he did confirm there could be an announcement on the deal tonight.
He told Sky Sports:
Hopefully there’s maybe one more bit of good news left this evening. It’s on track. It’s difficult to be too positive as we’ve been down this road before, but we’re pretty confident we can get that one over the line before the deadline reaches us.
Raphinha is a 23-year-old winger who has been plying his trade in France with Rennes.
He scored five goals and registered three assists last season and has started the current campaign in good form, scoring once and registering two assists.
Dan James’ transfer collapse in 2019 has left us scarred.
This deal for Raphinha is ticking into the final hour of the international deadline and all of a sudden the clock is against Leeds.
It’s not a deal I feel is vital – as I’ve said in the past – but this is a deal that feels like it needs to go through now.
Leeds have had a good window, but if a deal for Raphinha ends up falling through – plus the Cuisance deal last week – we have a right to be a bit frustrated.
Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that and things are wrapped up by 11pm!
