Andrea Radrizzani has outlined his ambition for “white smoke” within 24 hours as he bids to bring Jesse Marsch’s successor to Leeds United.

Leeds moved to sack Jesse Marsch yesterday afternoon following a 10th Premier League defeat of the season, a 1-0 loss at Nottingham Forest that left them narrowly outside the relegation zone.

Michael Skubala will head a caretaker team as Leeds take on Manchester United tomorrow night in the Premier League, although Radrizzani feels an appointment might yet come before then.

Taking to Twitter to interact with a supporters, Radrizzani teased fans that a breakthrough was imminent: “We are on it… hopefully white smoke by tonight or tmw (tomorrow) morning 🙏.”

In terms of the names linked, Andoni Iraola has been suggested by The Athletic as someone that is “interesting (Victor) Orta.”

They have also addressed the interest in current West Brom head coach and former Leeds U23s coach, Carlos Corberan.

It’s said that Leeds’ “sole concern with Corberan is his lack of experience managing in a division as high-level as the Premier League.“

Leeds face Man United away tomorrow night, before hosting the return fixture on Sunday at Elland Road.

A swift appointment was needed, particularly with Everton and Southampton waiting on the other side of this Man United doubleheader.

However, such is the tension amongst supporters, Radrizzani should just get his head down and focus on bringing in the appointment he and the board feel can move Leeds forwards.

There’s little point promising fans news and then letting him down when there’s so many irritated.

Anyway, fingers crossed this is on the money and the new head coach is in the dugout for Sunday at the latest, as Leeds bid to finally start climbing the Premier League table.
