Leeds United might see the transfer deadline day pass by without any incoming signings, despite huge calls from the fanbase.

There is not long left for Leeds to make any much-needed signings under Jesse Marsch, as the side prepares for a meeting with Everton tonight.

If you were to ask the fanbase, it would be quite abundantly clear how popular either a left-back or striker signing would be in the back end of this transfer window.

As much as fans might be pleading for a new signing or two before Thursday’s deadline, it does seem as though the club are sitting tight.

While there have been links to a handful of players both in and out of the club, it has not seen Marsch rectify two clear shortcomings in his squad, with Patrick Bamford still nursing a setback and Pascal Struijk covering the absence of a natural left-back at the club.

Ahead of tonight’s meeting with Everton, The Athletic’s Phil Hay has commented on the chances of seeing a new signing before the September 1st deadline:

“Transfer wise it’s extremely quiet and as it stands, all signs are pointing to the deadline passing without any more significant ins or outs.”

The mood with regards to transfers has switched significantly since the season has started, from very positive, to very underwhelming.

For the most part, the club have done exceptionally well to replace outgoings with signings that have enhanced the overall standard of the squad, but then there are two holes that still need filling.

To be still relying on Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo as your strikers after two seasons of both being in and out of the side is negligence, bordering on lunacy.

Not only that, but we have midfielders playing left-back in the under-21s and a centre-back playing left-back in the senior team, because Junior Firpo is our only natural player for the position across both sides.

Get something done, it couldn’t be more obvious we needed players in both positions.
