After a great win at Bournemouth, who should start the West Yorkshire derby?

|

Marco Silvestri

What a phenomenal start he’s had to his Leeds career. He kept us in that game on Tuesday night, it was an onslaught and but for Silvestri could’ve been game over before half time. Probably the first name on the team sheet at this moment in time.

Onto the back four…

berardi
RB – Gaetano Berardi

A tough decision given the fact Byram is a very good full-back, probably one of the best in the division – but you can’t change much to a winning team so I’d give Berardi the nod on Saturday. He’s been solid and hopefully can continue his form against Huddersfield.

Onto the central pairing…

bellusci on tour

CB – Giuseppe Bellusci

He looked a bit edgy on Tuesday, it’s as if he’s always capable of a mistake but that free kick – what a free kick and what a celebration. Again, because we won on Tuesday it’s difficult to drop any player.

Who will partner the warrior?

Pearce

CB – Jason Pearce

As much as I’d like to see Liam Cooper given game time Pearce is our skipper, so it’s unlikely that he’ll be dropped. Like Bellusci he always looks like he could make a mistake, which is always worrying.

The final defender…

Warnock

LB – Stephen Warnock

Definitely the most consistent out of our defenders so far this season. With the diamond in place he’s got to get forward a lot more than in a standard 4-4-2 and considering he’s getting on a bit in terms of age, it may be an idea to bring Charlie Taylor in for a game.

With a lot of players competing, who will make United’s midfield for the Yorkshire derby?

It is quite a difficult decision on who to play in midfield, they’re a load of options and they all sound appealing. The defensive midfielder isn’t a difficult choice though, I’m not sure anyone would choose different.

DM – Lewis Cook – Definitely our best player other than Silvestri this season, I still struggle to believe that he’s 17. As I tweeted the other day, we need to give him a contract. I doubt we’ll actually give him the 8 years I suggested, but half of that would be acceptable.

Should Austin keep his place?
austin

Rodolph Austin – Yes. I’m still not sure as I type this. However after the game on Tuesday I think I’ll give him another game, even if his only contribution on Saturday is to wipe out Peltier, that’d be decent.

Should Adryan start?
bianchi

Tommasso Bianchi – In my opinion, no. I don’t think a West Yorkshire derby would be the best game to throw him into. Bianchi has not exactly thrilled me so far but he had a good game against Bournemouth. It’s also good to keep a winning team as similar as possible.

Into the attack…

Antenucci

LW – Mirco Antenucci – I wasn’t a big fan of him I’ll admit, but he proved me wrong against Bournemouth, he works hard for the team and has a good finish on him. Could do with a refresher course on offsides though.

To the right-wing…

Doukara

RW – Souleymane Doukara – No question here really, my favourite of the new signings, quality player. Good pace, good finish, works extremely hard as you could tell by the end of the Bournemouth game. I’m sure he’ll be a crowd favourite very shortly.

And finally, striker.

Sharp

ST – Billy Sharp – He hasn’t had the best of starts but he hasn’t really had the service. I’d start him because he’s always got a goal in him, especially in a big game.

I would just question your view of Tomasso Bianchi … a lot of what he does goes under the radar but he appears to me to be the type of midfielder we’ve been lacking, can pass the ball with both feet, can track back and can find a killer forward pass … if he was an academy player, everyone would be raving about him, and he gets better with every game.

    Of course Silvestri…Warnock…Pearce…Bellusci…Byram….Cook..Mowatt..Bianchi…Doukara..Sharp…Antenucci…Subs…Sloth…Adryan…Benedicic…Austin…Dawson…Taylor
Beradi didnt convince against Bournemouth and Byram was better when he came on and more willing to get wide..seemed to have a better attitude than last few weeks…probably seen whats been happening at the club are all positives…perhaps didnt rate Hockaday? Who knows but somethings changed from a few weeks ago towhat I saw on Tuesday night for him.. All good signs look how strong that bench is…hard to change a winning team but Byram is better than Bellusci and Mowatt has more guile than Austin although Austin seems a changed player also and seems great as an impact player as per Birmingham…but hey all good options…onwards and up..MOT

I would start sloth and don’t know why he did not start on Tuesday..he is an automatic starter provided he is fit. as for Byram, not sure myself with him..inconsistent at the moment..he’s a quality player that plays some bad games at times..you never know when he will be good or not so good.not consistence enough yet? the brazilian should be given at least 45 minute..thr three up front I would stay with,,Mowatt isnt fit and i would play sloth for now..Mowatt is coming on good and should still at the moment play half a game

Bianchi always wants the ball and is growing game by game…Bellusci does look suspect at the back but has the grit and determination you need to improve and just needs game time and again WHAT A FREE KICK!!! If I did have my way it would be Cooper for Pearce but as you state its not gonna happen…unless the new head coach has other ideas

I’d like to see Sloth in there instead of Austin personally, i really think Austin’s biggest impact is 20 mins off the bench where he can just go full steam once opponents are tired which I’ve thought for a while is his best role.
