A massive game in the Leeds United season, who should start for the whites?

|

Right so I’ve gone on about Evans needing to change the formation for ages now but given that we play Hull on Saturday, it’s a must. They like to play wing-backs so I think we’d get even more overrun than usual if we played 4-4-2. So I’m going to make my team prediction in 4-2-3-1.

Marco Silvestri will start in goal, there’s no question.

Fullbacks – Gaetano Berardi is still suspended so I hope Evans does the right thing and starts Sam Byram at right-back, I can’t watch Scott Wootton play there again. Charlie Taylor will play left-back and that really is a joy to behold, he’s wonderful to watch and has been our best player this season for me.

Centre-backs – I’m hoping Bamba is fit and if he is then I would definitely start him alongside Liam Cooper but if not I would start Scott Wootton at centre-back, yes he is bad at right-back but to be fair to him he’s not a right-back and he can’t be worse than Bellusci, right?

Central midfield – Given that we’re at home I would start Lewis Cook and Luke Murphy as the two sitting midfielders, I know Murphy hasn’t been good this season but 4-2-3-1 is the formation that turned him into an excellent player in the second half of last season, I want him to get that form back. Lewis Cook is a guarantee, if he’s dropped expect Evans to get a bit of stick.

Wide players – Surely the Hull game will finally let us see Stuart Dallas and Jordan Botaka start out-wide together, like they should be. No more Mowatt out wide, please!

Front two – I would literally beg Steve Evans to let Alex Mowatt play in his proper position, just behind the striker, playing him on the left in a 4-4-2 is just not right, yeah he’s scored some screamers but he hasn’t really been able to contribute to the games as he would have liked. Although Chris Wood is in absolutely shocking form, I would have to start him against Hull, we do have a lack of options and maybe the change in formation will suit him. If it’s not working then I wouldn’t hesitate to give Lee Erwin more of a go, with Antenucci also being a good option off the bench.

Hull will be an extremely hard game but for some reason Leeds seem to turn up in games that they aren’t supposed to and let you down when they’re supposed to win, so I’m going to predict a hard-fought 2-1 win, with Snodgrass to score their goal.

MOT.
