The news today is that Gaetano Berardi, who’s been one of our best players this season, is out injured for up to two months. This is a massive blow for us, especially with Sam Byram’s future up in the air, it seems as though we’re going to have to put up with Scott Wootton for quite some time. Anyway, who should start for Leeds on Thursday night?

In goal will be Marco Silvestri, fair play to him, he’s been good recently. He made at least two outstanding saves against Charlton, lets hope he keeps it up.

At right back I would start Sam Byram, no question. Sam Byram with half his limbs missing is still a better footballer than Scott Wootton, it’s not even a debate. Play him until we sell him because we may as well get some use out of him. We could also attract a bigger offer if he puts in some good performances.

As the centre-back two I would actually carry on playing Liam Cooper and Giuseppe Bellusci together, as long as they’re playing as they are at the moment they should continue. If we start conceding goals regularly then I wouldn’t hesitate to bring Sol Bamba in for Bellusci.

No surprises at left-back, our best player at the moment for me, Charlie Taylor. He just gets better every week.

I’d expect Lewis Cook and Liam Bridcutt to continue in the centre of midfield along with Tom Adeyemi, despite his terrible miss against Charlton he still had a really good game, following on from his great performance against Hull. Now that we’re playing the better formation with 3 central midfielders, we seem to have found a good mix, although I still think Murphy would suit this formation well, he was not suited to the 4-4-2.

I really think it might be time to start Botaka for a game out wide, I know Mowatt is a good player but he still isn’t a good winger. Botaka clearly needs to work on parts of his game, the defensive side mostly. He would have had a good assist if Adeyemi hadn’t missed a sitter on Saturday. Start him, Steve. One of our most in-form players at the moment, Stuart Dallas, will definitely start on the other side.

Chris Wood will start up top but it’s a shame we don’t have someone challenging him for his position because he just isn’t up to the required standard for me. Antenucci is a good option but can’t start on his own upfront. Lee Erwin doesn’t appear ready to start at the moment, we might see him in the FA Cup game against Rotherham.

Wolves is a difficult game to predict, they aren’t the team they were last season but it’s still a difficult game. I’m going with a 2-1 win for Leeds.
