All in all, a massively important result given the rest of the scores. The game showed a lot of positives and negative for Leeds, let’s get right into it.
1) – Our back five are ridiculous – Newcastle had 22 shots, 19 corners, although only 4 shots on target. However, Leeds were under the cosh for a long, long time and to withstand it for such a long time is some feat. Pontus Jansson was back to his amazing best, Bartley led by example and Rob Green was unreal. Chris Wood takes most of the plaudits for our season and that’s fair play, but we’d be nothing without our solid defence. Pontus Jansson and Kyle Bartley are the best two centre-backs we’ve had since the Premier League, Luke Ayling arguably the best right-back and Gaetano Berardi epitomises Leeds. Not to forget Charlie Taylor either, possibly the best left-back in the Championship. Who would have thought Rob Green was going to be this good?
