Leeds United are on the lookout for a winger as we head into the pre-season schedule and there have been a handful of names that have cropped up.

The Whites have boasted two of the most dangerous and creative wingers in the league since promotion, with Jack Harrison and Raphinha managing 14 goals and 17 assists between them in 2020/21.

However, there are some causes for concern if Leeds had to make do without either of the pair going into next season.

Depth is a concern and if the club were to bring in a third winger that can match the quality of these two, there’d be a lot more consistency going forward, as well as healthy competition for places too.

There have been reports linking the club to a number of players since the back end of this season.

Here, we take look at three wingers that the club could target before the end of the transfer window…

Noa Lang

The first name on the list is the strongest-linked player of the three in Dutch youngster Noa Lang.

Lang moved away from boyhood club Ajax last season to move on an initial loan to Club Brugge in Belgium, where his form helped them lift the league title.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the club have maintained interest in the winger for some time now and are hopeful of pushing for a deal, while Phil Hay has relayed such claims, outlining that there is interest despite a concrete offer.

17 goals and seven assists in all competitions is an immense return and one that sees him one of the club’s prime targets in that area of the pitch.

Farid Boulaya

The next name is Metz winger Farid Boulaya, who has impressed as well this season as he helped his side finish mid-table in Ligue 1.

He’s made a name for himself for his immense trickery in wide areas that has helped him notch six goals and eight assists in the season just gone.

Reports from France claim Leeds are one of a few clubs keen on the Algerian, who would command a modest fee of €4.5million for prise from Metz.

As backup wingers go, Leeds could get someone who’s demonstrated similar ability in the league we bought Raphinha from for a price that is minuscule compared to other targets we’d be looking at.

Josip Brekalo

The last on the list is Croatia international and Wolfsburg winger Josip Brekalo.

Having crashed out of the Euro’s in the round of 16, Brekalo is looking to resolve his future that remains in doubt as reports persist regarding a potential exit from the Bundesliga.

Said reports also namecheck Leeds as one of the sides that could swoop to sign him in a loan-to-buy agreement worth €18million.

At just 23-years-old, he’s become a very solid Bundesliga midfielder with seven goals and three assists in the season just gone.
