Not the ideal result for Leeds United as they were held to a goalless draw at home to 10-man Preston North End. It’s a result that keeps us unbeaten but Leeds need to learn fast how to play and open up teams who are prepared to keep men behind the ball and counter because we’re going to see that a lot this season especially at home.

Here are our 3 standout performers from yesterday’s game…

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson – I thought Borthwick-Jackson had a very good, solid debut for Leeds. He was up and down the left hand side all afternoon and he delivered plenty of dangerous crosses. He’s going to play an important part for us this season and I think we’ve already seen the quality he has.

Luke Ayling – Another top performance from Ayling. He was probably lucky to escape any action after his lunge in the first-half but overall he was his usual self. Plenty of commitment and effort and he has a lot of quality on the ball to be fair to him. It’s nice to have two full-back’s who love bombing forward and delivering crosses. It’s going to be a feature of our play this year especially with the likes of Alioski, Hernandez and Saiz who love coming in field.

Liam Cooper – Cooper was absolute class yesterday and was by far the better of the two centre-back’s yesterday. Hugill was an absolute tank for Preston yesterday and caused a lot of problems but Cooper dealt with it all easily really. He just needs to be consistent with his performances now, he’ll probably be Jansson’s main partner especially while Pennington is out injured. Christiansen said that he was happy with his squad so we’ll see what happens.

Defensively we were really solid, we also created enough to win the game but just couldn’t convert our chances. There were plenty of positives to take and we move on to Fulham Tuesday night.
