Leeds go into the international break still unbeaten in all competitions and they’re the only side outside the top flight with that record. Yesterday saw us put in a stunning performance as we beat Nottingham Forest 2-0. Leeds, as an away side, had 18 shots and restricted Forest to just 5. We’re playing attacking football both home and away and we just look like a team who do not fear anyone.

Here are our three standout performers…

Vurnon Anita – Our utility man put in a really solid performance playing at left-back and this was easily his best performance for the club so far. He was put to the test by Forest winger Barrie McKay but dealt with the threat fairly easily and never looked out of place. I’ve no idea why Newcastle let him go but we’ve picked up an absolute steal here and he’s brought a wealth of experience with him. It will be interesting to see what happens when Berardi returns however, with Anita already fighting for the left-back spot with loanee Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.

Ezgjan Alioski – What a signing. Yesterday was easily his best performance in a Leeds shirt so far. He just tore into Armand Traore constantly, making it look so easy the way he just took the ball past him like he wasn’t there. He got his goal at the end as well which his performance really deserved, collecting the ball, a little shimmy to the left and bang bottom corner. It’s not just his attacking ability either, he tracked back and helped out Ayling at right-back all game and Forest really struggled to create anything on either wing which is a credit to the way we played.

Kalvin Phillips – Is there anyone out there still questioning why Kalvin Phillips is still being picked as one of our first-choice central midfielders? He was class and dominated that midfield alongside Eunan O’Kane. He was everywhere, winning tackles at the back and then getting up the field to support our attacking players. His performance was summed up when he won the challenge high up the field which led to Alioski’s super strike, this is what his game has always been about and it’s finally nice to see him being allowed the freedom to show us what he can do.

It’s an exciting time to be a Leeds fan. We’re going out home or away and we’re playing on the front-foot right from the first minute to the last. This is the type of football I’ve been wanting to see from Leeds for years and we’re finally seeing it.

Kalvin was always class, but his performances were very up and down.
He is more experienced now and benefits from O’Kane’s quality and experience.
TC seems to know how to get the best out of all his squad.
Whoever plays performs to their maximum!!
