A much-needed win at Elland Road last night and a great second-half performance to match. There were many good showings but who was the best?

Kalvin Phillips

Without a doubt, Phillips has been our best player so far this season. He started in centre-back last night and moved forward when allowed in the second half, showing off his versatility. He’s probably the first name on the team sheet for Bielsa and if he keeps this form up Leeds may be fending off bids in January. His range of passing last night was just next level.

Pablo Hernandez

Pablo showed us what we’ve all been missing last night. By far our most creative and reliable player going forward, his ball for Roofe’s goal was sublime. Leeds were by no means great in the first half, but when you’ve got someone like Hernandez in the side you don’t need to be. We need him for the duration of the season so I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a few sub appearances to keep him fresh throughout the remainder.

Adam Forshaw

Before last night I’ve never really “got” the Forshaw substitution. However it all seemed to click for him last night and he was actually an upgrade on Saiz. Given that Forshaw has yet to appear in Phillips’ role, it seems the only way he’s getting on the pitch is a Klich injury or to spell Samu for a bit. Samu looked a bit tired against Ipswich so it’ll be interesting to see whether Bielsa changes it up for Saturday’s big game.
