Leeds United look set to sanction the departure of young centre-back Olly Casey to Blackpool this summer, and there could be more names out of the door.

Leeds have shown that there is no room for standing still at the moment, with the club’s ambition matched by the performances on the pitch under Marcelo Bielsa.

Another aspect of the club progressing at a rapid rate is the youth academy, with Mark Jackson’s side set to face off against some of the England’s best setups next season.

With that, comes the chance for some fringe players to go out and gather some crucial first-team experience via a loan or potentially a summer transfer.

One of the first set to leave is 20-year-old Olly Casey, as Adam Pope has reported the defender is on Blackpool’s radar while the player himself is interested in the move.

As one deal looks set to be completed, we explore three other players that could be in line for an Elland Road exit this summer, whether on loan or permanently…

Robbie Gotts

Starting off with a youngster who was firmly a part of Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team picture last season in midfielder, Robbie Gotts.

Gotts was forced to wait a long while for his senior debut but got it in great circumstances as he started against Arsenal in the FA Cup in 2019/20, before making his second appearance of the season off the bench against Cardiff City.

He spent this seaosn out on-loan at two clubs in Lincoln City and then Salford City.

The Lincoln loan wasn’t the most fruitful for the midfielder as he struggled for game time under Michael Appleton, forced to shift to right-back for any minutes in the league.

However, when he moved to League Two Salford, he shone. By the end of the season, he was a favourite and a core part of the side that finished just shy of the playoffs in eighth place.

Now, with a solid end to the season behind him, Gotts will surely be looking to secure another loan in a higher division to continue his development.

Alfie McCalmont

The next in the list is arguably the most successful of the Leeds youngsters that were sent out on-loan in 2020/21.

McCalmont spent the past season at Oldham Athletic in League Two and whgile he was fighting at the wrong end of the table, he was a star for the Latics.

Perhaps known at Thorp Arch as a holding midfielder with a solid passing ability, McCalmont made his name for his side socring stunner after stunner.

Ending up on 10 goals and two assists in all competitions for Harry Kewell’s side, he showed exactly what he can bring to the table and surprised a few in the process.

His performances earned him a senior debut for Northern Ireland recently and he looks certain for a loan in League One at the least next term.

Sam Greenwood

The final name on this list is probably the most high-profile one on here, in under-23s striker Sam Greenwood.

The former Arsenal starlet has been incredible in the PL2 Division Two this season and a massive reason for why Leeds were able to completely blow away a lot of teams in the league this season.

His talent is there for all to see and while he’s edging closer and closer to a first-team debut in the Premier League, there are suggestions a loan to the Championship could be on the cards for him.

Back in January, Leeds rejected an offer from Swansea City for his signature as the club preferred to keep him close by to aid his development.

After the South Wales side failed to seal promotion, Andre Ayew departed the club and there is a spot there for a striker or two, as the Yorkshire Evening Post report there is interest from the division there for him.
