Leeds United are still expected to sanction more outgoings from the side before the end of the transfer window.

We have see two major exits thus far in Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha, but also some housekeeping have been attended to with loan moves confirmed.

More players are needed in the doors than out right now with Jesse Marsch aiming to plug plenty of gaps in the side from the 2021/22 campaign.

However, those key signings do leave the door wide open for players to depart for pastures new.

Here, we explore two senior departures that still could be in store for the Whites in the back end of this window…

Kiko Casilla

Perhaps the most likely of exits is Kiko Casilla’s, whose is just a case of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ he will leave.

After Illan Meslier nailed his place in the starting line-up back in 2020, the writing was on the wall for Casilla who had proven on multiple occasions that he isn’t the man to rely on, nor the individual anyone really wants on the team sheet.

He has one year left on his contract after his loan move at Elche was a non-event, and while Leeds might be reluctant to sever his contract early, it’s certainly an option.

He is going to be leaving Leeds either this summer or next, and it could be a case of Leeds taking the hit now as a means to bring in someone who can actually provide backup to the Iceman.

Helder Costa

Another player who spent last season out on loan was Helder Costa, as he struggled to make a name for himself at Valencia.

He returned to Thorp Arch able to take part in pre-season preparations, but as he was also left out of Leeds’ squad for Australia, he looks set to leave.

The issue Leeds have is finding a club willing to give them some sort of return on their investment.

£16million looks like a flopped deal right now, and while it would be a miracle to recoup anything near that, any sort of income would be welcome after a busy summer.

Knowing what he can produce at his best, there might be clubs willing to take a gamble on the winger.
