Having come through the youth ranks at Leeds, Cresswell has made seven appearances in all competitions for the club, five of which came in the Premier League last season.
Now it seems as though the 19-year-old could be on the move this summer, with this latest update claiming that Millwall are keen to take the defender on loan for the 2022/23 campaign.
So with that in mind, we’ve taken a look at two reasons why Millwall could be the perfect destination for Cresswell for next season, right here.
At Cresswell’s age, playing regularly will be a key aspect of his development, and Millwall could give him the chance to do just that.
With Alex Pearce having been released earlier this summer following the expiration of his contract, and Dan Ballard moving on after his loan move at The Den, Millwall are now short on options in the centre of their defence.
As a result, there will be gaps to fill in that position, which means linking up with Gary Rowett’s side could provide Cresswell with the opportunities he needs to experience the challenges of playing senior football on a regular basis.
Millwall showed plenty of promise in the Championship last season, eventually claiming a ninth place finish in the second-tier, which they will be looking to build on in 2022/23.
The club have already laid down something of a marker in the window, breaking their transfer record to sign Zian Flemming from Eredivisie side Fortuna Sittard, while established Championship campaigners Benik Afobe and George Honeyman have been signed from Stoke and Hull respectively.
With that in mind, you feel there will be an expectation on Millwall to compete for the play-offs this season, and getting used to the pressures of competing for success so early in his career, is something that could serve Cresswell well in the years to come.
