Leeds United picked up an important point at Old Trafford in their previous outing following a 2-2 draw with bitter rivals Manchester United.

Wilfried Gnonto lashed the ball into the net inside the first minute from Patrick Bamford’s lay off to give the Whites a surprise 1-0 lead at half-time. A Raphael Varane own goal from Crysencio Summerville‘s cross at the start of the second-half put Leeds in control, only for Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho to snatch a draw late on for the home team.

The game this weekend will be the second meeting of the week between the two great rivals. Leeds face the Red Devils at Elland Road looking for another positive result in their bid to stay up.

Who are the Leeds United players facing the axe for the clash? We take a look at TWO here.

Pascal Struijk

Not only did he go off with a suspected head-related injury, which may keep him out of action for a small period, the Dutchman also has been out of form for a while now.

Since the return of football after the World Cup, Struijk has struggled for form. The issue for the Whites is that je lacks the pace and mobility to play as a left-back in the long-term.

He has deputised well in a makeshift role but a more athletic option really ought to be on the agenda this summer. He could do with a break from the first-team, irrespective of his injury. His form has dipped and taking him out of the firing line for just a game or two would benefit him.

Luis Sinisterra

His injury should also mean he is kept from the starting line up for the upcoming game, but he too may find a way back in difficult, given the efforts of both Crysencio Summerville and Brenden Aaronson at Old Trafford.

Aaronson had looked out of sorts for a while, but impressed in his cameo on Wednesday and Summerville crossed the ball for Leeds’ second, and was bright in the spells, too.

If Leeds are to play on the counter, then both offer something in transition and should be seen as options to start the game. Leeds had little of the ball in the away trip, but playing in transition with space to hit is something both players thrive in, so either of them could return in Sinisterra’s place.
