Leeds United are continuing to be linked with a move for Wolves star Adama Traore in the summer transfer window.

Leeds have already been active in the transfer market in the past few weeks, announcing two first team and two youth signings.

The work is far from done though, and there are a couple of positions in the senior outfield that would benefit from more depth.

Raphinha and Jack Harrison on the wing have been sensational, but the lack of options behind them that can produce what they do each week is somewhat alarming.

90min have now revealed that Leeds’ pursuit of a winger could take them to Wolves’ speedster Adama Traore.

The Spain international faces an uncertain future at Wolves with contract talks not progressing while they face upheaval at Molineux with a new manager at the helm.

Here, we take a look at two knock-on effects at Elland Road if the Whites were to pull off this signing…

Adama would improve massively

We’ve experience first-hand what it’s like to take on Adama Traore at full-tilt, and it’s not a good feeling.

The pace, power, and brilliant technique of how he can progress the ball is something that has made him a priceless asset wherever he’s played, and would be massive as Leeds under Bielsa.

One criticism of his can be his decision-making in the final third along with his execution, but signing under Bielsa could easily transform him into a world beater.

The 2019/20 season saw him at his electric best and you’d expect Bielsa to bring that out of him on a far more consistent basis with much more tactical acumen added to his game too.

10.02 progressive carries and 5.31 dribbles completed per game would be lethal when coupled with coaching to improve shortcomings of his game.

Large chunk of the budget gone

While this would be a deal that would only arise for Leeds on the premise that a cut-price fee could be agreed between us and Wolves, it’s still going to come at a significant outlay.

Given that the winger is valued at £27million as a base, you’d be shocked if Wolves were asking for anything less than that as a bare minimum for discussion.

Claims of £35million have floated about regarding Traore and while we can’t know for certain, it would stand to reason that they would demand that high a fee.

If we paid that for him, that’s probably around half of our budget gone you’d like to think, based on what we’ve spent so far on Jack Harrison (£11m) and Junior Firpo (£12.8m).

What that does is it impacts our remaining business massively. Whether we have to pursue cheaper targets or sell players to continue buying would be the following question if Traore came in.
