Charlie Taylor has finally departed Elland Road after completing a move to Premier League side, Burnley. The move marks the end of a 14-year stay at Leeds after joining the club at the age of 9. The fee for Taylor is believed to be around the £5 million mark to avoid a tribunal due to the full-back being under the age of 24.

It’s been obvious for a long time that Taylor was going to leave Leeds at the end of this season after refusing to enter contract talks with the club. The decision was all but confirmed after Taylor refused to play in Leeds’ final game of last season against Wigan, there was no forgiving him after that.

Taylor made his debut for Leeds back in 2011 in a League Cup win over Bradford City. He made his first league start for Leeds a month later in a 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace, assisting the opening goal in the game. After loan spells at York, Inverness and Fleetwood, Taylor returned to Leeds and by the end of the 2014/15 season was a regular in the Leeds first-team.

The 23-year-old leaves Leeds after making 104 appearances in all competitions. He scored three goals for the Whites during his time at the club including a brilliant solo effort against MK Dons during the 2015/16 season. Taylor has signed a four-year deal at Turf Moor taking him up to the 2020/21 season.

Why is everything done at such a extremely slow pace at Leeds and even now we are still talking about Taylor only just signing for Burnley.
Leeds can’t even get rid of players, without it being such a long and drawn out process and don’t be surprised if the compensation for Taylor is also a long and tedious process.
